SAIC Hongyan Automobile Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary of SAIC Group — China's largest automobile group and a Fortune Global 500 company — together with Shanghai New Power Automobile Technology Co., Ltd. Founded in 1965 in Chongqing, the company carries more than half a century of national heavy truck manufacturing experience and has continuously upgraded its products toward new energy, intelligence, networking and customization. By integrating AI, 5G and V2X technologies, SAIC Hongyan achieved the world's first commercial operation of a "5G+L4" intelligent driving heavy truck. In 2021 SAIC Hongyan became a wholly-owned unit under Shanghai New Power Automobile Technology Co., Ltd., forming a "heavy truck + engine" business model. Backed by seven R&D bases across Asia, Europe and the Americas and a world-class lean manufacturing system (with annual commercial vehicle capacity expanded to 120,000 units), the company offers diesel, LNG, pure electric and hydrogen powertrains, covering 290-560 hp heavy trucks with emission series from Euro 3 to Euro 6. Its product portfolio spans tractors, tippers, trucks and special vehicles.
